The letter addressed to the Editor read:

'Allow me to call your attention to an error made in your valuable paper with regard to the brass band contest held at Hirwain on Monday last.

It is therein stated that the Lord Dunraven Band (Blaen Rhondda) took the second prize, which was not so. The Tredegar Band had the second prize, and the third prize was awarded to the Maesteg Volunteer Brass Band.'
