Tredegar in Concert - Vol 1 CD - 2011
The CD was released in 2012 and saw the band under Ian Porthouse show the innovative thinking that was to become a trademark of future releases.
Included
in the programme where two prize-winning works by their then Composer in
Residence Matthew Hall – ‘Legends of Cyfarthfa’ and ‘Nightingale Dances’. These had been premiered by the band at the prestigious Brass in Concert
Championships at The Sage Gateshead in 2010 and 2011 respectively and won Matthew the much sought after ‘Best Composition/Arrangement’ prize.
The aim of this Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) supported project is to provide an on-line multi-media resource that will celebrate and interpret the historical importance of the social, cultural and musical achievements of Tredegar Town Band over a time-line of the past 170 years – from the earliest reported origins in 1849 to date.
